“Riding on a Grey horse”

Entry for 11/10/1825

Tuesday 11th. This morning one of Major McLeod’s Sons who stays on shore came on board & told me there was a man on the Wharf of the name of McDonald who wished to see me, and on going up to the Wharf, I met James McDonald riding on a Grey horse, he immediately dismounted but I would not have known him, had not Mr. McLachlan who was coming past while I was speaking with McDonald, came up & spoke also, they recollect each other perfectly. McDonald has the charge of the Government horses & has some stock.
