“A few of the passengers are sick”

Entry for 12/09/1825

Monday 12th. Lat: 43.37 Lon: 81.53 Blowing a Gale of wind, the ship rolling very much & shipping a great many seas; a few of the passengers are sick yet, were obliged to leave the dinner table. Sailed with double reefed main topsail, reefed mail stay sail, full sail & close-reefed [?] sail. The ship is rolling so much that it is with great difficulty that I can write. 2840 miles.
