Till keek o day cleaves, frae the east,
Dreich, murky, smirr.
It lichts the yerdstick o the year
Tae win awa the weird o summer.
Nae wedow's weeds
Tae mourn an greet the auld year gaun.
A bonnie wheen o madder dyes
Shames Joseph's sark.
Leaf, berry, kirnelled nut an seed,
Breeze birlit doon, tae snuggle in
A growthie bed.
Whilin the winter bye
Thro wareday waukenin.
