John Anderson's Reply to Professor Wilson, Regarding the Trial of Dr Moor

Author(s): Anderson, Professor John

Text

Sir

Last night I was favoured with your long letter of yesterday's
date; and surely you cannot expect that I am to answer the
extraneous matter, and the misapprehensions of facts, which it contains.
It is enough for me to say at present, that the First Trial, and the
Second Trial of Dr Moor were not lodged in the Clerk's Preſs, nor in
the Clerk's Chamber, but in the Charter Chest, to which I never
had acceſs, it being kept under three keys by three of the Defenders;
and consequently the Faculty, that is, the Defenders, are accountable
for these Trials, which were not demanded till they had introduced
the First of them unto the Proceſs as of importance to them; and then,
and not till then, I demanded a sight of the Second as of importance
to me; and it is not produced though the demand was made six
months ago. The accuracy with which it was made will be shown
in the Court; but I hope the Faculty will produce it without any
futher trouble either to you, or to me. At present I have only to
say that I desire to see, 1st The ſecond Trial of Dr Moor, if the
Faculty has found it. 2dly, The Book you mention in Buchanan's

hand-writing, and, 3dly, The First Trial of Dr Moor. I will wait
upon you with any Amanuensis this Afternoon, or to morrow morning
at any hour that is most convenient for you. And I am, Sir,

Your most Obedient and most Humble ſervant
John Anderson

Glasgow College
