Letter from Smile to Murray, 18 Jul 1859

Author(s): Smiles, Samuel

Text

6 Granville Park Terrace
Blackheath S.E.

18 July 1859.

My Dear Sir

I have corrected and
returned to Mr Dorrell the
first four pages of the book ;
and told him you would
direct him as to the number
to be printed.

I would have 1500 struck
off in the first place , and
if the printers could manage
to keep the type standing for
two months or so after the
date of publication — by which

time the probable success of the
book would be pretty well
ascertained — it would be an
advantage . If you cannot
arrange this with them , then
2000 may be struck off. I
have my little doubt about this
number being disposed of

Believe me my Dear Sir

[Y very] truly

S Smiles

J. Murray Esq

Smiles, S,

July 1859
