Apologies were received on behalf of [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] Minutes: were on the table. President’s Intimations: The President was extremely pleased to announce that Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] had been elected a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society of London. A distinction that was well merited. Those present greeted the announcement with hearty applause. Secretary: Fair by [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname], Wednesday 3rd January 2001 (free entry with ‘double’ advert.); Merseyside Fair – Liverpool, Friday 9th, Saturday 10th February 2001; the Vera Trinder order had not yet arrived. Treasurer: Not present Packet Secretary: The packets were circulating well, there being 5 on the circuit. More booklets would be welcomed. Librarian: The book on Durham Postal History had now been recorded and was in the Library. Delegate to Congress: Not present Display: The President Invited Mr [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] to give his display of ‘Russian Miscellany’. Mr [CENSORED: surname] gave a very full and detailed account of the early 20th Century stamp types of the Russian states, and their overprints and cancellations. Attention was drawn to the inconsistent inks, variety of papers (maps, banknotes, notepaper, security paper etc.), poor perforating equipment and the variety of handstamps – from pen-cancels to those made from rubber, metal and wood. Mr [CENSORED: surname] had made a detailed study of the Trident Overprints and others. These were well represented. Vote of Thanks: In giving the vote of thanks [CENSORED: forename][CENSORED: surname] thanked Mr [CENSORED: surname] for travelling up from the South and for giving us such a splendid display. He congratulated him on his patience and fortitude in sorting the Trident overprints. This was heartily endorsed by those present. A further round of applause was given when the president disclosed that this had been Mr Hornby’s first display.
